I made this thinking about my parents — years of working overseas, staying in places that never really felt like home, just to give us a better life. That kind of sacrifice is quiet. It doesn’t always get seen, but it’s always there.

The carabao, a symbol of Filipino labor and strength, stands in a land that isn’t its own. Surrounded by the desert, walking alongside camels, it keeps moving forward. It doesn’t belong there, but it adapts. It endures.

That’s what this piece is about.

Being somewhere you never imagined yourself in, and still finding the strength to keep going. Carrying home with you, even when you’re far from it.
